Congratulations! You are a women who is consistent with her workouts and who eats fairly healthy (most of the time!).
AWESOME!
The downside? Even though you consistently exercise, you don't feel how you look reflects the commitment you have to what you are doing - there may still be some eating habits that get the best of you which is one of the reasons you might not be getting as good results from your workout plan.
Here's what the quiz results say about where you are now:
1. You consider yourself a regular exerciser. Working out is just part of who you are and what you do.
2. You are proud of your consistency and dedication, but perhaps that's what stands in the way from taking time off or a long break.
3. You find yourself saying things like, "I stick to a regular routine" or... "I have been working out forever, I know what I'm doing." Even though the truth is you feel like you are in a rut.
4. You believe your hormones are a major culprit as to why you aren't getting results like you used to. Your body changes through each chapter of your life & hormones play their part in each chapter. BUT, you are kinda lost when it comes to what to do about it.
5. You often balance your workouts against your food intake and believe you must earn your calories or bust your ass to work them off, especially after the weekend.
If you said YES to at least 1 of the above, you are in the right place reading this page. And there is hope! Lots of it.
Getting caught up in the food & fitness fight is a common dilemma among women who workout on a consistent basis. (how can we not with our diet culture the way it is?)
The awesome news is that just by you taking this quiz (seeking freedom) I'm here to tell you, it IS possible for you to break free from the fight with food and working out as you find a way to loathe your body a bit less.... and dare I say actually start LIKING yourself, get more consistent with healthier choices of food and find a workout program that amps up your results so you can finally appreciate what you see in the mirror everyday.
Fine-tuning your workouts and focusing on what your mind and body need are the 2 things that will get you out of this rut.
If I can do it (& hundreds of women I've coached have done it) you have it within you to do it too! ... if you are finally fed up and you are ready to put the struggle behind you, now's your time.
If you are like, "HELL YES Dana, I am ready to get over this shit" then take these 3 steps to unlock the next phase in your journey to freedom:
Step 1. Join My Community of Like-Minded Women
It's time to join a community of women who are working on their mindset, not just their abs.
What is "mindset" you ask?
Mindset is a set of attitudes & beliefs held by someone. In a nutshell, it's what you think and believe about yourself. Example: "Hormones are ruining my body" That is a mindset that will rule your life.
so....
If you continue to surround yourself with women who are telling you "hormones suck balls" & "FML" then you will continue to remain STUCK.
If you surround yourself with women who have taken their power back over their bodies, then you are able to use that to learn and draw on inspiration for what is possible!
ACTION FOR STEP 1 ------> It's time to get proper support. Join my free private RealFit.tv Fitness & Mindset Training Facebook Group to connect with other women who are changing their thinking in order to break free from their perpetual rut.
Step 2. Unveil Your Limiting Beliefs
Your solution is NOT in what you're DOING (or not doing), your solution is how & what you are THINKING.
Thoughts (THINKING) > Emotions (FEELING) > Actions/Habits (DOING) = Results
If you are constantly dong, doing, doing without stopping to examine what motivates you to do what you do, then this is a simple fix.
ALL behaviors begin with a thought.
Thoughts create an emotion inside of you & that emotion inspires you to do (or not do) certain things.
When certain thoughts are on auto-pilot, you just get more of the same, even when you are DOING MORE. It's like putting more logs on an already-burning fire.... you get a bigger, hotter fire... more of the same.
When you start at the beginning and just change ONE of your thoughts that are on auto-pilot, you have the power to change how you feel and therefore get a whole new outcome.
Example Thought: "Hormones sucks."
Emotion: Frustration, maybe even anger
> Frustration because you are working so hard & not seeing a difference.
> Anger because you don't understand hormones & you just want an easy solution (but it eludes you)
Action: You keep your same exercise routine because you fear doing something different will make things worse
Results: More of the same - weeks go by and things seem to be getting worse not better. The cycle continues....
NEW THOUGHT: "There is so much my body is able to do."
NEW Emotion: Happiness, Fulfillment & Gratitude
Action: Because you focus on what is going right, your mind will open up to solutions and you will be lead to the next step that will help you improve your situation. The cycle continues...
If a new set of thinking is part of opening your mind to the possibilities so that you can find your solution, then it is imperative for you to understand your own thinking and where it came from so that you can make releasing the guilt a reality.
Despite what you might think right now, let's get real for a moment..... You have come a long way in your life. You didn't get here by accident. In fact, it's worth investigating where those auto-pilot thoughts came from in the first place!
True, those auto-pilot thoughts were once a motivator. They got you started. They got you pushing yourself out of your comfort zone in an effort to improve yourself. They have served you well.
But, where did they even come from, these stories you tell yourself?
And, what are all the ways these limiting beliefs are holding you back that you might not even realize?
In order to change your thoughts deliberately and with intention without feeling like a fraud or a fake, it's vital that you know where they came from.
ACTION FOR STEP 2 ------> It's time to unveil your limiting beliefs & stories. Go through a sample of my Food & Fitness Freedom program where I take you through 5 short videos with simple (& fun) mindset exercises that have provided women just like you with the breakthroughs they have been yearning for when it comes to understanding their behavior around food and what keeps them from taking care of their bodies. Understand why you do what you do so that you can put it behind you & be free from the grips of food, fitness and body image issues once & for all.
Understanding yourself at a deeper level is the only way to get over your shit and live the life you want to live.
It's as simple as this: The more you know WHY you do what you do, the easier it is for you to make a new decision and finally change it.
Step 3. Try a DIFFERENT Workout Program
This step is about breaking the "I'm in a rut" cycle by learning how important it is to find the right type of exercise plan, that involve the right movements in the right amounts for your unique body while being ok with skipping workout days... That's why I teach something called "structured flexibility" - it's a way to get in a routine, but allow for rest days and other inspiration to come up that moves you in another direction that day. All good!
When you move your body in ways that support your happiness, (for example, running makes some women happy, for others it's torturous!!) you get more of the physical results you are looking for. This begins with how you treat yourself on the inside (see #2) and continues with the actions you take that support your new way of thinking (or the desire to think in a new way).
Allow me guide you through letting go of the frustration, stucked-ness and wasting your time by instead, focusing on the nuances of how you are moving your body during your workout sessions. Yes, you'll learn to push yourself, but you'll also learn to respect your body so that you leave room to recover, rebuild, get stronger and leaner faster than ever before.
There is something called "Minimal Effective Dose, Maximal Effort" which means that the solution does not lie in doing MORE, it lies in striking a balance between doing the right things, in the right amount, and at the right time while you navigate what feels best for your body that day.
